FDA OKs Hermes AI-Powered, Digital-Twin Knee Replacement Planning Tool

Vent Creativity, a digital-twinning based medical software company, has earned U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) clearance for its new Hermes Knee artificial intelligence (AI)-based software solution.

Hermes Knee leverages deep learning to generate surgical plans for mechanical, kinematic, and anatomical alignment techniques for total and partial knee arthroplasty (TKA/PKA) surgeries. It’s built on the company’s Minerva platform and can analyze procedures for research applications in other indications.

Users can interact with bone structures using the system through intensity representations in point cloud format so surgeons and radiologists can assess variations in human phenotypes and arthritic states. They can then view resulting cut planes, screw trajectories, and other operations pre-op to assess and compare patients to previous cases.

Hermes Knee is also cloud based through secure protocols.

Surgeons can modify resulting plans and annotate for any areas of concern. Reports can then be generated for documentation for outcome studies, possible reimbursement, or other uses by accredited medical professionals.
